Sneak Peak: Banana Republic Spring 2011 Collection/Campaign: Journey In Style!
Feb 2, 2011 Author: Katie Lara | Filed under: FashionRight now we are dreaming of spring over here and it seems about a billion years away. Has anyone in NYC even see the sun peak through the clouds in a month? I don't think so! And I'm not pleased! Our friends over at Banana Republic were kind enough to show us a bit of sunshine and get us excited for Spring 2011, which we're told is just around the corner (sigh…).
Banana Republic’s Spring 2011 campaign, dubbed “Journey in Style,” is inspired by the brand’s heritage of discovery. Drawing on the themes of exploration, travel, and the classic American road trip, Banana Republic has released a beautiful film trailer – a first for the brand – starring models Angela Lindvall and Jamie Dornan.
The campaign was shot against the stunning backdrop of the Vasquez Rocks, one of Southern California's most famous geologic wonders and features Banana Republic product that is modern, effortless, and full of style.
I'm loving the clothes and the general campaign. What are your thoughts! Share with me in the comments! Brighten up my day!

Osmotics Blue Copper Technology: Anti-Aging Products Review: Get Yourself a Little Lip & Tuck!
Feb 2, 2011 Author: Katie Lara | Filed under: Beauty
This past week I tried out Blue Copper 5 Firming Elasticity Repair. I have an irrational fear of getting a wrinkly chest. Eww nothing scares me more in fact. I am terrified that I will get grandma boobs too early in my life. So when I got this product I immediately began slathering it all over my chest.
This daily treatment features the next generation in copper technology: a new PENTA (5 chain) peptide molecule delivery system. Osmotics has the first Penta-Peptide molecule that increases and maximizes the absorption and effectiveness of copper. When delivered successfully (with consistent use), complexion becomes firmer, healthier and more radiant.
The cream really glides into your skin when you use it and leaves almost no residue behind. The scent is refreshing and clean.
Since I am only 30 it's obviously difficult for me to tell if it has helped eliminate my "grandma boob" issue but I definitely enjoyed using the cream.
For more information about Osmotics please visit their website. There is free shipping right now on orders over $50 FYI
Sanitas Skincare Review: Natural is Good, Biogenic is Better Preservative Free and Paraben Free!
Feb 2, 2011 Author: Katie Lara | Filed under: BeautyAs y'all know, I am always on the lookout for the skincare products that are going to cure all of my ailments (from adult acne breakouts to itchy dry patches…HOT! What nearly 30-year-old doesn't want these problems?) Enter, Sanítas Skincare. It was founded almost 20 years ago as a direct response to the need for skincare that actually works with the body’s own biochemistry. I first heard about this line in In Style a couple years ago. At Sanítas, they have a unique philosophy on how to care for skin; their products are designed to help treat common skin disorders by bringing back its normal, healthy state. The skin grows and regenerates through proper nutrition and supplementation. Sanítas products create healthy skin by utilizing both topical and internal skincare regimens. All products are formulated, manufactured and distributed from Sanítas corporate offices located in the foothills of beautiful Boulder, Colorado. I love that they're produced in Boulder. I'm not sure why exactly.
Sanítas means good health in Latin. And that is exactly what Sanítas products create healthy skin by enabling cellular processes at the deepest tissue levels. Sanítas believes that natural is nice but BIOGENIC is better! Biogenic ingredients are substances found in biology and naturally found in the skin. These ingredients respect millions of years of evolution and leverage existing reactions in the body so only a small amount is needed to enhance biochemistry. Sanítas products contain mainly active, biogenic ingredients such as PCA, squalane, alpha hydroxy acids, hyaluronic acid, beta glucan, peptides and fatty vitamins.
This comprehensive skincare collection offers target specific products in the following classifications; CLEANSE, TONE, MOISTURIZE, TREAT, MASK, BODY, SUN, NUTRITION AND ANTI-AGING. Sanítas Skincare features active, biogenic, paraben-free and preservative-free ingredients in highly concentrated dosages which stimulate and nourish the skin. The end result is healthy, beautiful skin. My favorite thing is that these are preservative free. Preservatives are another word for unnatural chemicals.
Check out some great samples from their extensive product line:
Lemon Cream Scrub: Lemon Cream Scrub is a mild cleanser that softens and gently exfoliates using Silica Crystals. Lipophilic Vitamin C and Vitamin E act as antioxidants to help protect, heal and provide anti-aging benefits. (I've used this an I am loving it. It smells like a creamy lemon meringue pie! It's very refreshing. )
Moisture Mist: Moisture Mist maximizes the delivery of active ingredients deep into the skin. Moisture Mist effectively hydrates and heals the skin in addition to enhancing the penetration and spreadability of a moisturizer. This makes me feel like I am in a spa, it's great to use right after you get out of the shower.
Vita C Serum: Vita C Serum delivers an extremely high dose of lipophilic Vitamin C to help restore the skin's youthful tone and elasticity. Formulated with 25% C-LipoTM, a powerful form of Vitamin C to help stimulate collagen and moisture factor production, accelerate healing and provide antioxidant protection from free radicals and photo-damage. Boost your skin's own natural ability to regenerate and defend against the signs of aging with Vita C Serum.
Peptiderm Eye: PeptiDerm Eye Treatment is specially formulated to help prevent the signs of premature aging in the delicate area around the eyes. Formulated with high concentrations of peptides and nutrients that support collagen production at the cellular level, PeptiDerm Eye Treatment helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes.
For more information visit the Sanitas Skincare website. Prices range from $17.99 and up depending on the products.
My New Favorite Bra with the Best Lift: This is Not a Bra Lift
Feb 2, 2011 Author: Katie Lara | Filed under: Fashion, LingerieA few weeks ago, my friends over at Warner's sent me a couple of bras to sample so that I could share my thoughts with my favorite gals, you guys my readers!
So I've been wearing my "This is Not a Bra" bras constantly. Especially the grey one, which has red lace. I can't find a picture of it and it seems kind of dirty to send a picture of my bra, so you'll just have to take my word for it.
It's a bra you can wear everyday but it definitely upgrades your traditional boring weekday bra and gives you a little lift. The lace overlay lends a little bit of beauty to my mundane weekday wardrobe. The cups are padded which I love in case the ladies get chilly, but they are also seamless to prevent visibility under my clothes. Underwire provides great support.
I have gotten numerous compliments on it also, that sounds, weird I guess. But I workout everyday with one of my besties and she loved it and so did my sister who I shopped with and changed in a dressing room. Get your minds out of the gutter!
Warner's bras are available all over the place! JCPenney's, Macy's, etc. They retail for only $34, which is less than Victoria's Secret (most bras there anyway).

To Fake or Not to Fake…That is the Question
Feb 2, 2011 Author: Katie Lara | Filed under: Fashion, Thoughts of the Moment
It's no surprise that it's tough out there these days, this stupid economy. And it leaves many girls wanting for more. I mean you live in NYC, with all this fabulous fashion it's only natural that you're going to want it on it…even if you don't have the budget. (Thank you Carrie Bradshaw and Friends for making us think that huge rent-controlled apartments and affordable fashions are abundant in Manhattan)
Enter, Chinatown and knock-off central. I see tons of fake bags on the subway each morning but while some girls turn their noses up at them, it makes me sad and angry at how much a designer purse costs these days. (Not that it stops me from throwing my entire paycheck at the designers.) While I do not condone counterfeit goods, from coats, to bags, to shoes, I can't help but feel compassion for the girls who are wearing these poor Hooey Vuitton and Cucci bags.
Earlier this week another blogger (BagSnobs) started a Twitter campaign against counterfeit goods, their original tweet said:
How rude! Bag Snobs, we love your blog but this sounds a little Mean Girls-esque circa 9th grade. As if I'm going to go snapping pictures of these bags and the poor souls wearing them. I understand where you're coming from but I think there must be a better approach to this seemingly trivial problem.
They of course recanted the tweet and said it wasn't their intention to bully anyone but my point is that although you may be able to afford the real thing, some other girls can't. Please do not go around taunting them. Okay that's enough after-school special for me. We have some younger readers and I just wanted to clarify our POV.
