West Elm Furniture Review: Terrible Quality! Not Worth the Price
Feb 21, 2011 Author: Katie Lara | Filed under: HomeThis review is slightly overdue considering I bought my coffee table over a year ago. However, it makes me just as angry as ever. When I moved in with my boyfriend (soon to be husband!) we bought a few new items of furniture as you can imagine. We found exactly the coffee table we pictured, just dark espresso colored wood with two drawers, which we thought we could use for storage. I was very anti glass top because it always made me nervous that I would break it. However, I have many negative things to say about West Elm's quality. It may as well be from Target. Honestly other than the fact that you don't have to put it together yourself it's not worth the price. I could have bought a very similar item from Target and even though I would have had to put it together, the quality would have been similar. Not to mention we have to use coasters on it, which is a huge pain!
West Elm doesn't have my coffee table anymore to show you but it was over $500 and I am extremely disappointed with its quality. I would say spend a little more and hit up Crate and Barrel or just suck it up and go Target.
For example, this buffet table is $699. Their pieces are just very cheaply made. I would NOT bother with this store. It's just an overpriced, pre-assembled Target.

Mrs. Meyer*s Holiday Collection: Orange Clove & Snickerdoodle!
Nov 17, 2010 Author: Katie Lara | Filed under: Home
Fill your home with holiday cheer with a Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day Orange Clove Candle. The Soy-based candle come in a reusable jelly jar (are people that hard up for a jar?). Love the scent. It's sweet but with a little bite. I have it in the hand soap and I've been finding myself washing my hands way more than my usual germ-o-phobic self usually does.
Also available: Snickerdoodle!

Candles are $6.99 each.
Available on Mrs. Meyer's Website.
Caldrea Limited Edition Holiday Fragrances
Nov 17, 2010 Author: Katie Lara | Filed under: Home, Lifestyle, Love and TravelNEW Limited Edition Holiday Fragrances from Caldrea – Peppermint Amaryllis and Balsam Figleaf.
These smell absolutely delish! Try them out this holiday season!
Peppermint Amaryllis - This one reminds me of a thin mint girl scout cookie. The beauty of a holiday table bedecked with blooming amaryllis inspires this uplifting compostion. Bright, clean notes of peppermint of tyme add a cool sparkle to a bouquet of jasmine, lily of the valley and winter rose.
Balsam Figleaf - Aromatic evergreens , fresh leaves and elegant fruits are entwined to bring the mediterranean to your home for the holidays. Top notes of sicilian cypress, cassis and kumquar are enhanced by green fig, olive leaf, pine and fir.
Available on Drugstore.com

A few weeks ago I ventured up to the new Bob's Discount Furniture store in Manhattan on the Upper Easy. A co-worker had recommended it to me and I had no idea what to expect. The Fiance and I had been looking to buy a new dresser or two for our bedroom but we were so overwhelmed by the prices that it made us think twice. I know I sound like an uber cheesy commercial but I am so happy we went. The furniture is obviously not Pottery Barn caliber but I was thoroughly impressed with their selection. Everything looked absolutely stunning. It did not look cheap at all. Yes, some pieces were NOT my style, but I have to say, nothing in the whole store looked cheap.
We ended up purchasing 2 dressers from the Vodara collection. It looks gorge-ie in our b-room.

One was $399 and the other was $299. The best part? It comes fully assembled for nearly the same price as Target or Ikea. No joke, a very similar dresser at Ikea was only $100 less than this and you had to put it together (or hire someone) yourself. Let me just tell you, I happened to be one helluva handyman (woman) but dressers are not easy to put together. If you're off (or if the crappy Chinese made materials are defective) the dresser will never sit right and the drawers will never slide properly ( I think my lil Sis still never forgives me for putting her dresser together so shottily).
Anywho, highly recked from over here at Smartypanties. Great quality and great price. Delivery is $100 but you pay about that much on Target.com or Ikea.
Visit MyBobs.com for more information or to find a location near you! We heart Bob! And our sales associates Nikita and Jean-Claude. Such sweethearts.
And no, I did not receive any discount or special treatment for this review. Just wanna get the word out!
When Life Hands You Lemons: Make Acne Medicine, House Cleaners and Feet Rejuvenators!
Jun 24, 2010 Author: Katie Lara | Filed under: Beauty, Health, Home
Lemons are full of amazing magical powers! Even better? They're super cheap!
Lately I've been using them as acne medicine and just putting lemon juice on my face after I wash it before bed. I swear this has been keeping my skin impeccable. I also made a sugar/lemon scrub last week that I used in the shower. It was a little sticky but my skin was so smooth after.
After I use lemons for my green detox smoothies in the morning I pour a little baking soda on the used squeezed up fruit and scrub the counter down. Not only does it leave the counters sparkling, but it smells amazing and I don't have to worry about hazardous fragrance fumes.
Then I read this ingenius article by Cheap Jap that lemon juice fixed up her ailing soles! I'm going to have to try this one STAT!
