Before 7PM get the best lobster roll in New York City at the Mermaid Inn. Get the Blue Plate Special for $20 and it buys you a lobster roll and a Fire Island Pale Ale! Normally a lobster roll alone is $26 (still not bad).

If you go, you MUST get the Seared Calamari with wild mushrooms. To dieeeeeee for! It’s such a romantic place. Great for a nice date but not too expensive and very laid back. And who doesn’t love mermaids? Plus they give you complimentary chocolate pudding and one of those sweeeeeet fortune telling fish at the end of your meal!

Visit their Upper West Side Location or Lower East Side Location and ask for extra Old Bay Seasoning. Yum!

Fear not, I have found the cure for the common Miami bar! 

Finnegan’s on the River!

It’s got multiple vibes, outside you can sit by a fireplace and get cozy, watch the DJ spin some tunes, sit at the raw bar and do oyster shooters, or dance on the dance floor.  Inside, there’s a bar and several tables where you can either drink or order food.  And the food is ACTUALLY not only delish, but super affordable.

I went on Friday and had a GIANT blackened Mahi-Mahi sandwich, Diet Coke, and a massive side of french fries.  My bill??  An amazingly un-Miami $15!!!!!!!!

It’s my new favorite Friday night place.

We’re all feeling the recession these days, or at least feel like we should be saving up some money for the supposed doomsday we feel is hanging over our heads. So dine out a little less guilty…
