TREND ALERTS!!! Plaid, Boyfriend Jeans! Katie Holmes Wears ‘em!

Plaid is rad!

Even I think so…

They say Boyfriend Jeans are cool…at least Katie Holmes does…

We think this is kind of the most unflattering look in the world. We think men are secretly cursing Katie’s influence on girls across America who have ditched their skinny jeans.

Is Coach Joking–Release a Budget Friendly Line–Poppy

Feb 28, 2009 Author: Katie Lara | Filed under: Fab Footwear, Fashion

So Coach has never been our favorite line. In fact we don’t think we have ever owned one thing from them. Their leather for men is great but their bags for women are just atrocious. I mean if I’m going to be a label whore I’d at least make it a decent label–we Just Say No to the C’s. Anyway we thought we’d take a peek when we heard they had released a budget-friendly collection. Ahem, I nearly choked–budget friendly?

We don’t even have the time to explain how hideous these flats are. Seriously the rainbow logo? Uch. But here comes the real zinger–the shoes start at $198! How is that budget friendly? I can buy a pair of Tory Burches for less than that which I won’t be embarrassed to tell friends the designer. And guess what? Items in the collection range as high as $598! Who are they kidding? How much did things used to cost there? $1000 for a pair of Coach shoes? This is NOT a wise way to try to survive the recession, Coach. Not wise.

We even read an article describing the line as “whimsical.” Seriously that word is not synonymous for hodge-podged mess.

2009 Fashion Trend Update–Lindsay Lohan, Leighton Meester, Gweneth Paltrow,

Sheer Clothing

See-through clothes are back and bigger than ever. What that means is sheer clothing isn’t just for slutty girls who like it tight–celebs have been loving this trend

A casual take by Lindsay Lo

Cut-Out-Bathing Suits

This trend just screams sex–even more than a not-so-elusive string bikini. You have to have a perfect bod to wear these though in my opinion. Anytime you have a strap of material squeezing part of you it leaves a big opportunity to, well, squeeze your fat. Similarly we’re not sure about the rest of you but the exposed sides in the mono-kini trend doesn’t leave us loving our love handles.

Fringe Fringe Fringe!!

Like this dress, worn by Lily Allen. We’re not the biggest fan of the flapper look so don’t kill the messenger this is just what are being reported as trends for 2009. Generally we don’t love fringe but this dress is kind of cool (it’s Alberta Ferretti fyi)

One Shouldered Anything!

We’ve loved this trend for years and years and are so happy to welcome it back with open ARM. We’d love that bathing suit if it wouldn’t give us the weirdest tan line. Ever.

Grecian Goddess Look

You know our despise of ol’ drag queen Barton but we love the Greek look. It’s also comfy and effortless in the summer. And the best part is that most stores have caught onto this trend like Forever 21 so you can get a wonderfully cheap Greek dish! Just be sure to buy long dresses big enough. It’s my personal opinion that when they don’t quite hit the ground they’re far less flattering on the figure.

Warren Tricomi at the Douglas Hannant Fashion Show- Mercedes Benz Fashion Week

Feb 21, 2009 Author: Katie Lara | Filed under: Fashion, Hair Stylin'

Warren Tricomi worked with designer Douglas Hannant and Edward Tricomi (co-owner of salon)
created the hair for the Douglas Hannant Fall 2009 Show at New York Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. They did the hair at the WT Salon in the Plaza Hotel.

To get the look follow these easy steps (and you may want to tone it down a little if you’re not walking the runway…or working the corner)

Step #1: Prep hair by making it straight and sleek and part hair to create a bottom and a top.

Step #2: Take the lower portion of hair and slick back with hair spray to create a French twist.

Step #3: Next tease the upper portion of the hair with hairspray and
create a bouffant and smooth over with a flat brush and hairspray.

(OK you don’t have to go this far)

Step #4: Pin back the bouffant to create a linear ponytail look and
spray for hold.

Ta Da!!!!
