Get Miranda Kerr’s Look from the Annual Film Benefit at the MOMA

Nov 16, 2011 Author: Katie Lara | Filed under: Beauty, Celebs

Last night's 4th Annual Film Benefit at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC brought out A-listers such as Blake Lively, Emma Stone and Olivia, Wilde, however, no one looked quite as radiant as Victoria's Secret super model Miranda Kerr.  Miranda's look was created by makeup artist Rose-Marie Swift and is the perfect combination of classy and modern …

Here are Rose-Marie's tips & tricks for recreating the look

Step 1: Start with a luminous base – Rose–Marie combined her RMS Beauty "Un" Cover-Up with a touch of the RMS Living Luminizer to create a flawless glow.

Step 2: Eyes – Rose–Marie used the RMS Cream Eye Shadow in Lunar over the whole lid and highlighted the corner of Miranda's eye (right at the water line by the tear ducts) with luminizer.  She curled her lashes and added a touch of mascara.  Finally, Rose-Marie darkened the brows to make them really stand out.

Step 3: Lips & Cheeks –  Rose-Marie used the newly reformulated RMS Lip2Cheek in Rapture on both Miranda's lips and a touch over the apple of her cheeks.

Step 4: Final bit of glow – To complete the look, Rose-Marie added a touch of luminizer over Miranda's color bones and shoulders to attract the light and create the illusion that her skin was glowing

Introducing geoGIRL Tween Cosmetics

Nov 2, 2011 Author: Katie Lara | Filed under: Beauty

Like, oh-em-geoGIRL.™ there is a new tween-geared cosmetics brand! The line like totally targets technologically savvy tweenies with its products like S.W.A.K. lip treatment or T2G (time to go) cleanser. The line also includes mascara, eye shadow and even an exfoliate.

The line has receive a bit of criticism for targeting tweens. Honestly though, I remember being 12, stealing my Mom’s makeup. Well, not stealing, she would willingly hand over a little blush and lipstick here and there. Tween girls are going to get their hands on makeup and for me I think that it’s totally appropriate as long as its in moderation. I understand not wanting your children to grow up too quickly (and not wanting them to resemble Toddlers and Tiaras) but age-appropriate makeup doesn’t bother me.

geoGIRL™  is fun, good-for-skin makeup for lips, cheeks, face & eyes & great skin care made with healthy, natural ingredients like White Willow Bark, Chamomile, Lavender & Calendula & Ginseng, 2 name a few. & we use 100% natural fragrances. For the skin refresher they use mint and natural ingredients. It’s like grown up cosmetics, but not. The colors, while bright and eye-catching in the package, go on super-sheet to merely give girls a healthy glow while giving them the fun feeling of applying their own makeup. They do not offer black eyeliner or mascara – nor are there deep colors or intense, full coverage formulas.

Why not give girls their own healthy and natural lotions and cosmetics instead of introducing them to bold and chemical-ridden adult brands? Young skin is sensitive to fragrances, detergents, dyes and harsh chemicals. geoGIRL™ ™ products are specifically formulated with gentle, good-for-skin natural ingredients such as Chamomile, Lavender, White Willow Bark and Calendula, designed to help protect and calm delicate, temperamental skin and prevent breakouts.

They have been criticized for using anti-aging chemicals but in fact they include sunscreens to help prevent UV damage and antioxidants to prevent damage caused by environmental exposure – both of which are endorsed by health experts and in virtually every reputable daytime moisturizing product.

Importantly, geoGIRL™ ™ products are free of: Parabens, Phthalates, Sulfates, Propylene glycol, PABA, DEA, Petrolatum, Paraffin, Synthetic Fragrance, Synthetic Color (in Skincare), Carmine (crushed beetles) & Animal Ingredients (except cruelty-free honey, lanolin & beeswax).

Will you let your tween wear cosmetics? What are your thoughts? Share them in the comments!
