As many of you know I'm preparing for my honeymoon to Southeast Asia, I know it sounds ridiculous to stress about but figuring out what makeup essentials to pack has been worrying me. Two and a half weeks of wanting to look sexy with uber limited suitcase space (which let's face it, packing for a weekend isn't one of my strong suits, let alone a 2 week journey!)

I had the brilliant idea to compile a Honeymoon Makeup essentials story for you all in case you had any upcoming trips that required you to pack light. Well, my friends over at Smashbox made is so effing easy for me, they sent me over Smashbox Cover Shoot, which comes with such amazing essentials. The set includes: 2 Photo Op Eyeshadow trios, cream cheek color, Full Exposure Mascara, Creamy lip color (Strike-a-Pose), an Eyeliner duo and Lip Enhancing Gloss (Tabloid). It even comes with a double ended brush for shadow and liner in one! Hello space-saver! Nevermind that I have 14 cover-ups, at last I have one fabulous brush that will be working double duty. I feel kind of bad for the other makeup companies who sent stuff because I honestly am set and don't even care to look at the other stuff. But you can't get a better deal than this, $68 for over $180 worth of makeup (and these are full-size products!)

The standout products for me were the Cream Cheek Color. It glides on so smoothly and gives the most gorgeous glowing coverage. Plus it's so tiny and you just need a small dab for each cheek! I also love the mascara-it's a very darkening mascara (which I happen to prefer to mascaras that only lengthen). I know that some people are into water-proof for the beach but I just find that its impossible to get off.

I do, however obsess over a good waterproof liner since I find these actually do stay on for days whereas most water-proof mascaras seem to almost stay waterproof but the part that leaks seems to like to stick right below your eyes for the entire day. Smashbox also has fabulous waterproof liners, Jet Set Waterproof Eyeliner, that I'll be taking with me, I am especially in love with the Navy Blue. Is it a honeymoon essential? No, so I'll be traveling with the black, but when I get back watch out, these eyes will be lined to the nines in Navy Blue!

I'm also loving their matte Bronzer, Bronze Lights in Suntan Matte. I mean how can I be honeymoon ready in Southeast Asia without a good fake bake? I love this blush because the antioxidant-packed bronzer perfects and protects while creating a matte glow. I hate glittery bronzers.

Check out my fabulous Cover Shoot! Holler!! I mean after all that's what vacations really are? Photo shoots with your loved ones with really really awesome backgrounds! Now I'll be photo-shoot-ready and screaming cheese!!

I love that Smashbox won't break the bank and they really specialize in photo shoots so you really get the most out of your makeup for home (or vacay) photo shoots, which let's face it is when it's most important (immortalizing your honeymoon for instance!)

Loving Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss–Hating the Back Camera on my iPhone!

It's a Saturday night and you need to rest up for your upcoming honeymoon, what do you do to prepare? Try out all the effing fabulous makeup that Smashbox sent over for you to sample. Today was my Mother-in-Law's fabulous 60th birthday party. It was a wonderful family-filled day of Amazingness! Now I am beat and had to come home and unwind after a fabulous day. I wore my favorite of all the glosses to the party today, Sultry. And sultry it is. It's super vampy but you can get away with it during the winter because even though it's dark it's very wearable because it's more about the shine than overwhelming color. If you want to sexify yourself even more you can put a dark lipstick underneath like Chestnut. Just be careful to blend them properly, otherwise you may look like an uneven clown. What better Saturday night is there than this? Oh, I guess hanging out with friends… tomato/tomahto…

Loving each and every single one of these colors: (from left to right) Illume, Tabloid, Pulse, Radiant and then Sultry (rawrrrr!)

Mario Badescu: Do Their Facials Live Up to All the Hype? Mario Badescu Facial Review

Feb 5, 2012 Author: Katie Lara | Filed under: Beauty, Celebs

After being somewhat disappointed after my last Bliss spa experience (the steam showers and sauna weren't working and the staff were rude and had no idea how to fix either) I vowed not to spend another nearly $200 for a mediocre facial just because I didn't know where else to go. So I called, desperate to get my skin fixed–and quick! With the honeymoon fast-approaching I really need to be camera-ready!

I was shocked to hear that facials start at only $65! The spa is located on 52nd street between 1st and 2nd avenue. The facilities are a little reminiscent of an efficiently run doctor's office, which I liked since I was on a mission today–get skin cleared up (rather than a day of pampering). My appointment was right on time, which I appreciated. You get changed quickly, then the facialist puts the steam machine on your face for about 10 minutes. Then–it's extraction time! Not my favorite part of the facial of course. Who wants their pores pinched until they pop? Be warned that Badescu facials are very aggressive with their extractions. They mean business. But in a good way. I had a Bliss facial about a month ago and she said that every pore I had was clogged and they just had not done a good job. After the extractions she applied a glycolic mask ($50), which is meant to help clear the skin, fade old marks, etc. She warned that it might tingle a bit. Last time someone said this to me at Bliss, I felt like my face was going to melt off so I was a little worried. However, it barely tingled at all. After this she applied the Vitamin C ($30) mask to accelerate healing since I told her I have a very important event next weekend–my mother-in-law's 60th birthday party!!! Yay!! I never want to show up at a party looking like I had just been butchered so she said this would help speed things along. This felt absolutely fantastic. It was a freezing cold mask but it helped calm my skin.

Overall I loved my experience. I felt like my facialist was extremely knowledgeable and she could not have been nicer. Her name was Leah if you want to ask for her. Now I finally understand why celebs have been using Mario Badescu for all their facial needs. It's a no-frills spa, the rooms are not overly extravagant and the waiting room is definitely nothing special. But if you want a good facial at an extremely reasonable price then this is the place for you.

I went a little crazy in the product department–as I am so desperate to get my skin back to normal. This past month has been a little rocky in my personal life and my skin is showing that off. I picked up a bunch of products that I plan on using ASAP. They gave me an entire regiment, which I am excited to start.

My Favorite New and Natural Shampoo: Love by Davines (Emma Stone’s Favorite Too!)

Feb 5, 2012 Author: Katie Lara | Filed under: Beauty, Celebs

This Valentine's Day show your dry and frizzy hair some love with deeply moisturizing and nourishing Indian fig extract found in the Davines LOVE Collection. Hair becomes manageable, smooth and silky even if it felt damaged and course. This natural wonder even reduces hair static and maintains shine for hours after rinsing.

Who else loves this shampoo? My favorite celeb ever, Emma Stone! I'm actually watching her rock it as I write in Ghosts of Girlfriend's Past. Emma Stone recently gushed that Davines LOVE Smoothing Shampoo and NOUNOU Conditioner add shine to her famous red locks as well as keep them in check when it comes to grease and product build up.  “I need a lot of moisture for my skin, but not for my hair. I have the opposite problem with my scalp as I do my face. This clarifying shampoo doesn’t weigh down my hair, and the conditioner is great for baby fine hair. It also smells very good, too.”

I'm obsessed with the lightness of this shampoo but it really makes your hair feel soft and healthy. Plus I love that it's a natural and healthy company that I can trust the ingredients. It has a delicious scent too. I'm really into this shampoo!

For more information about this shampoo and other Davine's products visit their website.

If it can make Emma Stone's hair go from this

to

how can you argue with that? hahah Just kidding!

What's your favorite shampoo right now?

Get Celebrity Makeup Looks from the Golden Globes!

Jan 22, 2012 Author: Katie Lara | Filed under: Beauty, Celebs

Now that the Golden Globes are over, we all try and achieve our favorite look of the night to use all year round. Celebrity Makeup Artist, Sue Devitt has the best tips and tricks for you to accomplish your personal favorite that are quick and easy to follow!

Smoky Metallic Cat Eye

Emma Stone’s charcoal and silver colors really accented her wardrobe beautifully, and this look also helped to separate her from the majority who mostly wore nude eye makeup with black eyeliner.

Achieve Emma’s look: Don't be afraid to try metallic's for the eyes and get ready to make a striking impact. The smoky eye is a trend that keeps reinventing itself as it’s synonymous with a sexy beautiful look sought after, season to season. This season, the traditional smoky eye gets a makeover with a pop of silver for a more elegant look.

If you love the idea of a cat eye but can't fully commit to such a bold statement, try this new take – liner across your top lid that ends in a sharp angle out towards your temple, with no other makeup except a sheer pink lip. This look still makes a statement but it is subtler than the original thick–winged line. To get this look apply a precision tip liner, like the New Sue Devitt Defining Eyeliner, along the lash line extending the line just slightly further than usual. For a more defined effect apply the liner around the rim of the eye as well.

Red Lips

Achieve a lip look like Angelina’s by applying lipstick evenly all over lips with a lip brush (for amazingly long lasting color). Then finish by 'buffing' the lips with a Lip Intensifier Pencil, using light feathering strokes around the lip line, blending inwards towards the center. This wow-factor look is classic, dramatic and daring. However, if you’re still unsure about red, practice with a “stain”, instead of a full lip. Blot with a tissue or apply with your fingertips.

Bronze Shadow

Smoky eyes are a red carpet staple these days, and we saw the look in every color, finish, and smokiness. Freida Pinto's bronze shadow and black liner combination which was a real head turner.

Achieve a look like Freida’s by using the Illuminating Eye Shadow Quad in Icelandic Fjord. Begin by applying the Nordic Nude shade all over the eyelid with the Sue Devitt Eye Base Brush.

Sue’s Secret Tip: Hold the brush upside down as you apply as this allows the pigment to get deep into the lash line and build the color upward and outward toward the eyebrow and temple.

Next, use the Refined Eye Base Brush to apply the Deep Moss Shimmer shade only to the eyelid to create desired depth. Again, hold the brush upside down and apply this darker color along the lash line, at the base of the lid, and deep into the lashes. Work the color upwards, grading into the base color as you move upward towards the crease.

Finish the look by applying defining Eyeliner in Vik generously along the lash line, and around the rim of the eye for added definition.

Hide Your Gray Hair without Going to the Salon with Generation Klean Gray Disappear

I don't know about y'all but I'm at that age where friends are having to color their hair. Ahhh. So crazy! I feel so old! Anyway I was sent this fab product by Generation Klean called Gray Disappear. It's a hair mascara that covers gray in seconds. It's awesome if you haven't reached that point of having to color your hair or in between expensive salon visits. Even guys could use this to cover up graying facial hair.

I also love that the products are paraben free, sulfate free and propylene glycol free. Available in Gold, Blaze, Espresso and Onyx for only $15.99.

Generation Klean is available at fine retailers and online at generationklean.com

Love it Or Hate it? Zooey Deschanel’s Tuxedo Manicure at the Golden Globes?

Jan 17, 2012 Author: Katie Lara | Filed under: Beauty, Celebs

HATE. I found this idea to be kind of endearing but the fact that it didn't match with her dress really killed it for me. Maybe if she wore a super chic and plain dress I could have gotten on board. Not today though.

Do love New Girl's Theme song though…if that's any consolation.
