Longest Lasting Nail Polish: Dashing Diva

Feb 19, 2010 Author: Katie Lara | Filed under: Nailed It!

Ever since the engagement my most important job in life has been keeping my nails perfectly manicured to show off my rock. Since I’m broke at the moment due to my upcoming trip to Hawaii I’ve had to really kick it up a notch and do self-manicure much more often.

I’ve been using the plethora of polishes sent to me by PR folk and so far I’m really stuck on Dashing Diva, which are Toulene, BPA and formaldehyde free.

They also last the longest!

Zoya Nail Polish Formaldehyde, Toluene, Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP) & Camphor Free

Nov 1, 2009 Author: Katie Lara | Filed under: Nailed It!

I’m loving this dark green color, appropriately named: Envy

It doesn’t look this green on. It actually almost looks like black with just a hint but this looks like it in a bright light. I’m loving this for the winter.

The peeps over at ZOYA were sweet enough to also send over the Color Lock System Kit. It is pretty sweet. I started off with  the Remover, then basecoat, ridge filler, then the color, topcoat and then speed drops. It was the perfect kit to make my at home manicure feel more professional and less I can’t afford to go to the salon this week because my credit card bill is $10000000.  After all the whole act of getting your nails done is so you feel put together and polished. This kit kind of got me there by going through the motions.

This bad boy retails for $48.

Visit Zoya.com to order Zoya products.

Dashing Diva Nail Polish Fall Colors New York Collection Fashion Week

Sep 12, 2009 Author: Katie Lara | Filed under: Beauty, Nailed It!

Here are some of our favorite Fall Nail looks by Dashing Diva!

Lorick

Designer Abigail wanted half the models in a bright, bold red and half in a deep royal blue to compliment the new Spring 2010 look.  They used Miranda’s Law and Box Seats.

Caroline Seikaly

Totally LOVING this color! Caroline wanted a soft crème grey for nails and toes to compliment her collection.  So, Pattie Yankee from Dashing Diva created Astor Place, a light grey they will debut in Spring 2010.

Rosa Cha

Rosa Cha wanted the models to have uniform, longer nails.  So, Pattie and her nail team first applied Kiss’ Express On press-on nails  before applying a bold, bright coral polish that’s hot for Spring 2010.  The nails popped on the runway!  Feet were just painted.

Charlotte Ronson Fashion Week Backstage Learning About Beauty from Maybelline, Milani and Avon!

Sep 12, 2009 Author: Katie Lara | Filed under: Beauty, Hair Stylin', Makeup or Breakup?, Nailed It!

Backstage at Charlotte Ronson, one of our fave designers, we learned about the hair and makeup for her 2009 runway show. For hair, which was done by Avon using Advanced Techniques products, Charlotte wanted it to look like the girls had just left dance class, a little disheveled  and chaotic. They used the Voumizing Hairspray, which provided a flexible hold. The little pieces were intentionally left out framing the face to show your average girl and her natural beauty. The models looked gorgeous because well, they’re models. I’m not so sure I’d be able to pull the natural beautiful disaster messy look but they did it well.

Nails were done by Milani. They used Creme Brulee. A sheer, light neutral nail. Semi-opaque and very short and natural (no shimmer).

Makeup was done by Charlotte Willer for Maybelline. She drew inspiration from NYC chic meets ballet dancer. She used Mineral power, illuminating mineral power and a generous dusting of mineral power blush in gentle blush color. For lips the girls wor color sensational lips #15.For lashes they wore Lash Stiletto.

One of our fave parts–Charlotte’s other sis (not Sam) walked the runway for the show!

I don’t know why I love this pic so much! Almost as much as I love getting my nails done at Dashing Diva. We’re loving the whites and neutrals the shows have been doing this season thus far. Gwen Stefani and a model at her L.A.M.B. Fashion Show Thursday September 10th at Milk Studios.   The models nails were done by the Dashing Diva nail tech team in the NYCF Fleet Week shade, a solid white color that matches Gwen’s favorite look.
