Health Benefits of Garlic: Can it really help ward off colds?

In a recent New York Times article, atudy suggests that garlic may have another added benefit besides warding off vampires this Halloween. This article, though research is limited seems to suggest that eating garlic can help fight off colds when eaten in rather large doses (2 cloves a day).
A clove a day keeps the cold away…or at least it keeps the boys away so you won’t get any germs! Which came first? The chicken or the garlic?
