Acai Berry Resveratrol Oprah Doctor Oz Health Benefits Weight Loss Don’t Get Scammed!
Jun 4, 2009 Author: Katie Lara | Filed under: Health
So, we’re going to be doing lots more health reports since we’ve really gotten into it since we read Anti-Cancer, which our favorite doctor ever recommended to us. The book tells you how to have a healthier lifestyle and how to be proactive to avoid cancer. More on that later, we’re going to write a review of all the things we’ve learned! For now we’re going to start informing you of health articles we read since we think that every Smartypanties should be proactive about good health. I must preface this though with the fact that I have no health expertise and only personal opinions. I’m not a doctor nor do I have any medical training. All I’ve got is good sense and logic and the knowledge I gain from the many articles and books I read about health. That said, here goes nothing…
So you’ve heard no doubt about the acai berry and all of its wonderful health benefits. Perhaps you’ve even heard it from Oprah who had Dr. Oz on not too long ago to discuss how to “Age Great” or something like that. He also mentioned resveratrol being good. This is found in products like grapes and red wine. Since then there have been numerous products being marketed on the Web and in health food stores claiming to be anti-aging and the like. However, note that neither Oprah nor Dr Oz were endorsing such supplements!
However, as always we’re skeptical. What can we say, it’s the lawyer in us. Recently Consumer Reports blogged that evidence on the health benefits of acai berries is scant. The Better Business Bureau also transmitted similar warnings about Websites using “misleading sales and marketing practices” to promote acai berry products.
While the encouraging test tube and experimental animal research, with purified resveratrol, has yielded some beneficial results, so far that hasn’t been true for humans.
“For now, let’s raise a glass of red wine or grape juice to current skepticism and future enlightenment.”-Anthony Giorgianni

Bottom line- don’t be scammed into buying this stuff. As always, we think it’s best to just eat the fruit or drink red wine (in moderation of courseàdo as I say, not as I do!!!!!) but don’t waste your money on supplements for this until there is more concrete evidence.
I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here Spencer and Heidi Pratt Love Dry Shampoo!
Jun 3, 2009 Author: Katie Lara | Filed under: Celebs, TelevisionSo, there was nothing on TV the other night and I started watching–I’m a Celebrity, Get me Out of Here! It was as ridiculous as I imagined it would be. I loved when Spencer asked Blagojevich’s wife what went down with her husband. Like could she begging for good PR any more? Gimme a break. I equally love how Heidi looks like a completely different person sans her makeup. Please enjoy this video as a gift–Spencer freaking out when they took Heidi’s dry shampoo. To quote SNL–”Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitch Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze” if you think that’s doing a damn thing you’re crazier than I thought you were.

Jun 2, 2009 Author: Katie Lara | Filed under: Food and Cocktails! So, I bought Cook Yourself Thin yesterday and I gotta say I’m loving it! Cook Yourself Thin is a healthy, delicious way to drop a dress size without all the gimmicks. The ladies of “Cook Yourself Thin,” a new Lifetime reality show, offer 80 easy, accessible recipes in this companion cookbook that teaches readers how to cut calories without compromising taste.
I made the tequila shrimp tacos, which weigh in at only like 400 calories a serving *or close I forget. They were f-ing amazing! They taste nothing like diet food. NOTHING. Frankly, neither BF nor myself could believe that I made them! The genius behind this book is that when you’re trying to be healthy you still want to eat things that leave you satisfied, which it did. It’s not a fad diet like the rest, it just gives skinny alternatives to your cravings. Yum!! Will keep you posted about more cooking…BF and I are on a health kick…will see how long it lasts…
As for saving money and cooking…I’ve been hitting up Whole Foods so I haven’t been saving much but I have been getting super healthy stuff and I’ve felt so much better because of it. I also had to stock up an empty kitchen. Like seriously, I didn’t even have Olive Oil or Salt.
