Bare Minerals Eye Makeup Remover- Great for on the go-girls and after-work plans!

Dec 22, 2008 Author: Katie Lara | Filed under: Beauty

If you’re like me you apply your eyeliner/mascara duo in the rush to get to work on time and by the time you get to your first bathroom break and take a look inthe mirror you realize that your eyeliner is down to your cheeks and your co-workers have just been too polite to say anything. I often find myself rubbing my poor little peepers to wipe the makeup away but I know that my eyes are gonna be hella-angry when they realize I gave myself unnecessary wrinkles by pulling this super-sensitive skin.

This product rocks! It comes with 24 individual cotton swabs filled with makeup remover to ensure perfect removal every time! Even better it contains soothing ingredients like Aloe and Vitamin E. It works great and trust me, your eyes will thank you for this later!

Didn’t think Smartypanties could like him more than when he was in Harry Potter (i’m not so into Twilight-though honestly I’ve never seen it!) Look how hot he looks though with his shorter, sexier (ahem, cleaner) do…

* Hanukkah Happiness *

So we know we were bad smartypanties yesterday and didn’t write you guys anything new until way late in the evening! Boo us! But you have to understand that yesterday was the first day of Hanukkah! So I was busy outlet hopping with my boyfriend and his family? What, non-jews? What’s that you say? You don’t do that on Christmas? Well you don’t know what you’re missing! There is nothing like waking up at 8am on a Sunday in the pouring, freezing rain and actually being excited for your day. I hope you girls all had as fantastic of Hanukkahs as we did! Sometimes being away from your family (being from Ohio) can make you miss the silly traditions of your own family. That’s why we consider ourselves so lucky to have such a wonderful surrogate family in NYC courtesy of our BF. And want to know the sweetest thing ever? (and perhaps even reason enough to start a blog) Our surrogate fam even bought us presents! And not just any presents, but EXACTLY what we wanted! It was a Hanukkah miracle! We got a cashmere sweater from Bendel’s (yum!) and a glorious notebook from Tiffanys (it’s teeny weeny, pink and says ‘Pitter Patter’ on the cover, which is exactly what our heart did when we got it!) as well as our highly coveted Sugar-lemon lotion, soap AND shower gel from FRESH. They read my blog and knew I wanted it from my previous lusting-after-it-article!

Then we lit the menorah, (lit the menorah, lit the menorah–there were no joke like 12 menorahs!) ate potato pancakes, corned beef, the best meatballs ever, noodle pudding and birthday cake (in the shape of a purse for the BF’s aunt’s daughter-in-law’s bday). What could possibly be better than that Hanukkah party? Oh, I’ll tell you, if it were calorie free!

Hmm…well, we didn’t have to take the train back because BF’s parentals drove us all the way in with all our new stuff!

My wish list came true!!!

(I can’t find a pic of the Black Sweater or the Pitter Patter Tiffany notebook but the sweater is black, long and beautiful! and the notebook is teeny, pink and perfect!)

Happy Hanukkah! Go out and buy your loved ones gifts!

Starbucks Coffee- The only woman in the USA who hasn’t heard of it…

Dec 20, 2008 Author: Katie Lara | Filed under: I HEART (and occasionally hate) NY MOMENTS

Today while experiencing a lovely NYC afternoon, complete with 2 inches of ice and non-rubber soled shoes I was walking (slipping) around with my BFF in from France and his friend on the Upper West side after brunch. We got cookies from Levain bakery (best cookies ever–to be discussed later) and were faced with the question of where we could sit and eat these tasty morsels since the bakery has 2 stools faced by a webcam that broadcasts to online viewers; needless to say, we wanted to binge in private. We decided on Starbucks (sigh) to get some tea and eat our cookies. We were trying to figure out where the closest one was when a tiny little old woman interrupted our guessing game of where the closest Starbucks was. “I live in the neighborhood can I help you?” she questioned? To which I responded, “Yeah actually, where is the closest Starbucks?”

“Star-BOX? Can you spell it for me? Starbocks? I’ve never heard of it.”

How is that possible? Not only did we not believe she lived in the neighborhood, we aren’t sure she is even a resident of this galaxy. Who hasn’t heard of Starbucks? Hmm, it’s just some tiny chain started in Seattle lady. There are only like a billion of them.
